Well this radar detector is pretty good for the price. But a cop doesn't need a radar to tell your speeding when your going a 100 mph in a 35 mph speed zone. But its a good product to keep you on alert. I'm not going to say this product is inefficient because it isn't. It has saved me from plenty.

I will first start by saying that I have never used any V1's or Escorts or Bel's- I am just knowledgable on them. The one radar detector that I DID own was a Cobra 9985 (9930). It actually saved me from several tickets! BUT, the little LCD screen on it stopped working, so under Squaretrade Warranty.

This is my 2nd detector from Whistler. The 1st was good, but the XTR-690SE is amazing. The ability to see the Ka band frequency is invaluable. Being able to know if the signal is false or a real threat is a savior. Also, the flashing lights on top are attention grabbers, too.

Radar detectors are one of those things that you love or hate. You love them when they alert you to a police officer with his radar on but you hate them when they constantly alert you to every automatic door, alarm system, and who knows what else in a 5 mile radius. They also.

I bought the Beltronics Vector (BEL) 940 about 2 years ago to replace an old, beat-up Cobra, and now I have a brand new speeding ticket. But the ticket is not the BEL's fault, but mine. You see, this is my second speeding ticket in the 14 years of driving and (coincidence or not?) both times were.

Over the years I have had radar detectors by whistler, Uniden and Cobra. The Beltronics 940 surpasses all previous detectors. I have gotten fewer false signals, greater range and earlier warnings with the 940.

I purchased the Beltronics STI Driver for $449.95 from an authorized online retailer about 13 months ago, it's now 17 March 08. I have absolutely babied this device, always taking it out of the windshield - out of the sun when parking. It's always kept dry. Never dropped. Never banged. So basically.
